About Netflix

Netflix is a global subscription-based video on-demand (SVOD) streaming service. They launched in Germany in 2014 and became one of the most popular streaming services since then. Netflix offers a wide range of original and licensed content like movies, series, documentaries, reality shows, stand-up comedy and content for kids. In March 2023, Netflix began with live events and plans to increase the amount of live programming in the future. The Netflix content library contains popular titles like Squid Game, Money Heist, Wednesday or Stranger Things.

What is Netflix Advertising?

Netflix started offering its ad-supported subscription tier in November 2022. The plan, initially called "Basic with Ads", was introduced as a cheaper alternative to Netflix's ad-free tiers, marking the company's first foray into advertising since its launch as a streaming service in 2007. In 2025 users with an ad-supported subscription tier can see up to 5 mins ads per hour. Due to the ads policy, Netflix does not show advertisements on kids' profiles or any content designated for children under 13.1
